NED!!
Wow, this fall has been crazy! Between family, work, and my growing communities on Instagram and Skool, I’ve been busy busy! But I am so so GRATEFUL I get to post this update!!
After my 3 month scans, which showed significant improvement with resolution in my lungs and my lymph nodes (aka cancer was gone in those areas), and a “tiny” breast tumor left, we switched my chemo from Carboplatin + Gemcitibine, to just Gemcitibine. This was a welcome change as the Carbo was more of a “heavy hitter”, and eventually would have started causing me symptoms. The Gemzar has been very manageable for me as a stand alone and I continued to be side effect free!
I returned for another scan on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, and received the incredible news shortly thereafter that I was NED (no evidence of disease)!! My scans were clear! The cancer had disappeared and more importantly hadn’t spread anywhere new!
After this result, I met with my oncologist to discuss next steps. I requested that we cut WAY back on chemo for this “round” (3 months), and see what happens. So for now, I am getting chemo once a month in Dec, Jan, and Feb, and then will get another scan at the end of February to see if I am able to maintain NED. Regardless, I am so thankful for a chemo break this time of year, to allow my body to recover and my immune system to function properly amid all of the sicknesses going around this winter!
Thank you for following me and allowing me to share my story!
